The Institute for Development Synergy (TIDS)
The Institute for Development Synergy (TIDS) is a non-profit, interdisciplinary academic and professional institution dedicated to addressing complex development challenges in Nigeria and beyond. Headquartered in Abuja, TIDS was established on January 31st, 2025, following a year-long vetting process by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), National Universities Commission (NUC), the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
TIDS was founded in response to the fragmented and silo-based nature of development policy and practice in Nigeria. Its mission is to create synergy between academia, government, civil society, and industry by transforming academic research into actionable policy and capacity-building programs. Led by seasoned academics—each holding a PhD in Political Economy and Development Studies with specialties in public-private partnerships and youth entrepreneurship—TIDS collaborates with both Nigerian and international institutions to shape a more coherent and impactful development agenda.
The institute focuses on:
Conducting cross-sectoral research in areas such as public health, governance, education, and leadership.
Publishing quarterly Development Journals that inform national and global policy discourse.
Reskilling and upskilling graduates to improve their global employability.
Advancing research and training in capital markets, investment strategies, and securities, equipping individuals to become proficient investors.
TIDS serves as a central hub for research-driven solutions, designed to influence public policy, support industry innovation, and produce professionals capable of navigating the global economy. With a strong foundation and strategic partnerships, TIDS is poised to become a leading force in development-focused research and practice.
